Pavillions German Week, Shanghai (2009)

The German Government in cooperation with the German Goethe Institute organized the event of "The German Week" in China, which took place in different Chinese cities. The German Week is an exhibition and promotion platform for German companies such as Siemens, BASF and so on to introduce German products and technologies.

The design of the bamboo exhibition pavilions were created by the German Artist Markus Heinsdorff and MUDI. The fourteen transparent pavilions in golden and metal appearances are made of bamboo in different sizes and shapes and are designed as walk-through objects and exhibition areas. The design consists of bamboo pipes and bamboo panels and a newly developed connection system. The facades are made of transparent plastic and a mesh of golden bronze and show a light game by the reflection of different lighting during day and night.

Bencer provided Engineering Consulting services. Together with the artists and architects, Bencer also developed a new and unique technology of bamboo pipes joints.
